Book Review: Pentias – Master of the Elemental Jewels by Karthika Sanjeev

How can you feel nostalgic reading something you’ve never read before? I guess that is the power evoked in Karthika Sanjeev’s “Pentias” and its mystical and magical creations. This book is an absolute joy to pore through and, despite being aimed at children, holds universal appeal and delight for readers of any age. It is truly wonderful to suspend belief and plunge into a world so pure in its binaries of good and bad.

Master of the Elemental Jewels is the second novel in the Pentias series by Karthika Sanjeev, and of course, is packed full of action and excitement. Aahan, Aarav, Dhyan, Farhan, and Harshi find themselves once again on a new adventure. In Aahan’s nightmares, he sees his six-year-old brother, Aarav, being choked to death by the spirit of Mrs. Laurels. Mr. Mathur, his father, falls into a coma the day after his birthday, asking him to meet Mother Alaysia. Having lost his mother many years ago, and about to lose his father, Aahan left with so many unanswered questions. The pentias, Aahan, Aarav, Dhyan, Farhan, and Harshi, embark on an adventure to an unknown realm in search of answers.

Upon meeting with Mother Alaysia, she tells them about Silandria, a place beyond words and imagination, and how Aahan will one day reign as king of Silandria. While the Pentias haven’t had a chance to get to know their new surroundings, they must find four elemental jewels of Silandria to help Mr. Mathur and lift the curse. The story of Pentias is about fate and destiny. It shows that evil cannot reign forever and that to truly win, sometimes you have to make a great sacrifice.

The adventures of the pentias in the second book are more exciting. The atmosphere of mystery is also thicker. It turns out that Silandria holds many mysteries that the pentias don’t know about. This story has a bit of everything, a magic, strange world, adventure, friendship, a secret, and a hook at the end to bring you back again! It is exciting and fun to read, and at the same time teaches valuable lessons on loyalty, kindness, doing good, and friendship.

This is still an excellent storyline with enjoyable characters that cannot fail to leave a warm feeling in one’s heart. The characters, both good and evil, were well placed. The wisdom, courage, bravery, and strength displayed by these characters felt real. Pentias – Master of the Elemental Jewels is a great fantasy book for both children and adults alike. It’s a story to be enjoyed by everyone. A desire for adventure and entertainment is all one needs to enjoy this book.
