Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama served as the First Lady from 2009 to 2017. She graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School and began her working life as a lawyer at the Chicago firm Sidley & Austin, where she met Barack Obama. She later worked for the mayor of Chicago, at the University of Chicago and at its medical centre, and set up the Chicago branch of Public Allies, which trains young people for public service work.

Her memoir Becoming was a #1 bestseller around the world and has well over a million Goodreads ratings; it was later adapted for younger readers and turned into a guided journal. The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times followed it. Before those, American Grown told the story of the White House Kitchen Garden and of gardens across the country, and it too became a #1 national bestseller. She has also published The Look.
