Why we’re excited
Rachel Morgan's billionaire boyfriend Trent loses his fortune when a storm wrecks his brimstone fields, then ends up in a coma after a botched jailbreak. Rachel is left running Kalamack Industries and caring for his daughters, caught between vampires chasing a powerful spell and elves who want Trent's children.
This is book nineteen of Kim Harrison's Hollows series, which started in 2004 with Dead Witch Walking. New readers should begin there; there is too much history to start mid-stream. Longtime fans get Rachel in a boardroom, which is a new kind of trouble for her.

From the publisher
Rachel Morgan must take up the mantle of a high-powered CEO—all the while navigating dangerous power plays between the vampires and the elven elite—in the next exhilarating Hollows novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
For witch-born demon Rachel Morgan, life has become good in the Hollows. For her renegade billionaire boyfriend, Trent, not so much. When a freak storm exposes and destroys the brimstone fields that are the key to his fortune, Trent seems determined to make a fresh start and turn himself in—only to fall comatose during a failed jail escape.
Suspecting foul play, Rachel scrambles to unravel Trent’s hidden agenda as she finds herself in charge of not only his daughters but his businesses—legal and otherwise. But becoming the new CEO of Kalamack Industries traps Rachel in between the ruling vampires, who seek a spell that will grant them ultimate power, and the elven elite, who want Trent’s children and, with them, enough political influence and collateral to tip the balance in their favor.
Not knowing if Trent will recover, Rachel must find a way to survive the deal she made to save his fortune, his girls—and her life.
