Jayanta Ray's The Runaway Kid is a brilliant example of social realism literature. It presents a vivid picture of the socio-economic and political landscape of the time and offers a scathing critique of the apathetic attitude of those in power.

The Yellow Wallpaper book is a novella written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in the late nineteenth century. The book's plot is based on the author's biography. More precisely, it's an introspection of the author, a description of her feelings during her post-partum depression.

The short stories in Wake Up the Night by Kenneth Silver are calm and thoughtful, yet they deal with heavy topics like human nature and its violent tendencies.

Forgotten Tales is an engrossing debut collection of short stories that is set in the Kashmir Valley in India and explores what it means to be Kashmiri as well as what it means to live, to survive, and to persevere after experiencing tragedy.

My impressions of the book varied over the course of reading it. Of the four parts, I found the first part the least engaging and the central character rather bland. Especially the beginning, where too many characters were introduced, building of the backdrop simultaneously and establishing relationships between the characters, made it a little exhausting and confusing to read.
