Book Summary: Teenage Chronicles by Saania Saxena

Feelings, fears, friendships, insecurities, passions. All of us go through these intense emotional experiences, and the start of it all, without the shadow of a doubt, is teenagerhood. As we start to realize that we are our own person, many questions inevitably follow, as who we want that person to be, and how to get there.

Saania Saxena, the sixteen-year-old author of Teenage Chronicles: My Journey of Self Discovery knows well what she writes about. With curiosity, a bright analytical mind, and the wise humility of someone who knows how much there is to learn from this world – regardless of the age one has reached – she narrates her first-hand life experiences and the consequent lessons she has elaborated and learned, sharing them with her readers.

Philosophy and science are no longer intellectual and abstract concepts, but tools to better understand ourselves and ease our journey to self-discovery. A fresh, rich, and interesting work between narrative and essay, providing at the same time entertainment and suggestions to consider.

A book recommended not only to teenagers but as well to adults that are still questioning themselves and in need of a fresh and original point of view to improve their self-perception.

Book Review: Teenage Chronicles by Saania Saxena

Throughout our lives, we experience different emotions, feelings, fears, friendships, insecurities, and passions and, without any doubt, teenagerhood is the starting point of them all. All of us experience intense emotions during teenagerhood. Our understanding of ourselves as unique individuals brings many questions, including how to become the kind of person we want to be, and how to achieve what we want.

Saania Saxena does an excellent job creating a book that reads just like you reading out of someone’s journal. Besides the fun text she incorporates, she also includes graphics which help make the book even better. In Teenage Chronicles, Saania Saxena documents her first-hand experiences and the lessons she has learned from them. The books is divided into chapters ranging from insecurities, friendship, happiness to making a difference that offer wisdom and inspiration for teenagers. Each chapter consists of a variety of stories about teenagers and their experiences. A lot of these stories are inspiring and some of them make you really appreciate what you have and the people in your life.

This book really makes you think about yourself and things you’d like to do. You realize that some teenagers go through tough stuff and sometimes they weren’t sure how to deal with it. The variety in this book allows many teenagers to relate and maybe they can learn a few things on how to deal with friendships, relationships, or family problems.

I really liked the messages that Saania shared and the writing captured her personality perfectly. There’s somewhat of an interactive component where author allows the reader to reflect on their own life. Saania Saxena writes with an easy style that makes it quick to relate to, a fast paced, but encouraging flow of information, encouragement, stories and helpful tips. I think this book would be suitable for all ages. Whether it be a young or an older. Saania Saxena’s examples and the messages that she delivers, are helpful reminders for anyone who finds themselves ‘off-course’.

Teenage Chronicles is the perfect book for a teenager who might be struggling right now with fear. Although this book is targeted at a younger audience, I found the content ageless and appropriate for anyone across the lifespan. There was plenty to glean from the messages Saania Saxena shares within these pages. She writes a genuine book that shares her heart for others to find freedom like she has.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone at any age but would especially recommend it to teenagers because there are a lot of things that they can learn from this book that can make them feel better about themselves and know that they aren’t the only people in this world going through this situation.
